Our Founder
To See the Future, Understand the Past
Taught at home by his mother, Robert Welch read at two, studied Latin at seven and entered high school as a junior at ten. He mastered French and German, became a successful businessman and world traveler, and gathered a library of more than five thousand volumes.
He dreamed of a liberal arts college where young Americans could be educated in the same classical tradition as the Founding Fathers.

Toward a Four-Year Degree in Americanist Studies
In 2005 RWU launched an online associate's degree certified by the State of Wisconsin. That program is paused while curricula are built for a full four-year degree with special emphasis on the classics.
RWU continues to support other educational programs, seminars and research.
